“We expect Pakistan’s government to boost its border security cooperation [with us],” Rahmani Fazli said.
The minister added that negotiations with Pakistan’s government officials have been promising, saying that the circumstances on adopting mutual measures are being surveyed.
Rahmani Fazli stressed that in case Pakistan’s government could not embark on a mission for any reason, Iran is ready to conduct operations against the terorrists.
“Should they [Pakistan] give us a green light, we have the power to attack the terrorists located beyond the borders,” he said.
Pointing to the Iranian border guards kidnapped and moved into Pakistan by terrorists, the Iranian minister said, “Iran is making every effort to free all the abductees.”
He called on the neighboring state’s authorities for a full cooperation in this regard.
12 Iranian border guards, including local Basij volunteer forces at a border post in the city of Mirjaveh, southeast Iran, were abducted on Oct. 16 by the so-called Jaish ul-Adl terror group, which is based in Pakistan.
Five of the abductees were released earlier this week.
